JJ, did you have fun with the new boards? Every time I refreshed, there was something new.

Two thoughts... can we get rid of the page with the "your message has been post click here to..." blah blah blah?
and I see that you've got a ranks and medal section up and coming, I have the old page with all the images hosted. http://tropforum.homestead.com

Argggh!
I can't scroll down to the bottom of page three.
Yep, the edit words seem to work. I won't add many more other than some graphic female anatomy words.
That window after the post might not be fixable. I'll look into it later during my mod hunt.
As for the ribbons, I figured Malo might be shaky and had Brf grab the work.

Yeah I wondered if he didn't keep the originals.

Sure. They are easy to create. You just type in the name and click the "Create Catagory" button.....

Doh!
I didn't see that little box to type in the name.
Ok, that's my planned forum setup for the moment.
Commentary is requested.

I'd like to have a Litterbox thread, for those rants that don't require debate, but give us a chance to vent our spleens.
Where should I put it, the chopping block or in the great hall?

I'll ad my vote against the "click to see post, click to return" page. I sure hope there's a way to eliminate that. It may be only one extra click for each post, but over time.... thousands of wasted clicks.

I relinquish any and all claims to Castledoom... Brf actually designed most of them
I can continue to host ribbons until Joe and Brf have time and the desire to make a change... there's no hurry.

As was my opinion, but it's really nice you did that since I'm trying to foster a copyright friendly environment here.

Which leads me to a thought.
I suppose we need a place to host things here.
The host site stuff is really out of my league, though.
Brf is the guru on this stuff.

We have plenty of room to host stuff here... It is easier if you have an FTP program, but even if you dont you can access it through the site cpanel in "file manager". That is how I get the mods in.

Coolness.
But what is this FTP program?
Is it something we need?
And the bigger question is does it cost and how much?

FTP is "File Transfer Protocol". It is used on the internet for copying large files or folders from one place to another.
The basic program is command line... You open a DOS prompt and type in "FTP" and hit Enter.
Personally, I use WSFTP-Pro, by Techsmith, which gives you a nice Windows GUI.

PFFFFT If you have Windows and use Internet Explorer as a browser, you have a built-in FTP gizmo. Open the folder with the desired stuff in a window resized to take up about half the screen, and launch IE, resize it to use the other half. Type in the FTP address in IE's address bar, enter username and password as needed, then drag and drop the files from the folder to IE.
It's the main reason I hang onto IE, Firefox is my main browser.

I'm curious about one thing tho'... do y'all really want to use the ribbons?
It is not in keeping with the "theme" of Castledoom.
I had assumed that something more medieval would be used.
Personally, I like it. Joe & Brf are the lords of the castle and the rest of us... their well-bred court.
Since I like playing around with ranking systems... a few thoughts.
I would not use "low-born" ranks for members... members are all of the gentry.
Posting ranks would be something like this:
1. Squire/Lady-in-Waiting
2. Knight/Lady
3. Banner Knight/Dame
4. Baronet/not sure what the appropriate female title would be
5. Baron/Baroness
6. Viscount/Viscountess (?)
7. Count/Countess
8. Duke/Duchess
9. Grand Duke/Grand Duchess
10. Prince/Princess
Joe & Brf could be Kings, Emperors... whatever strikes their fancy.
They might create special titles... to reward those of good service:
1. Bishop
2. Chancellor
3. a Privy Council
4. Lord Chamberlain
5. Keeper of the Royal Commode
6. Captain of the Guard
Y'all get the idea.
