|
|
Ok, I finally had to bite the bullet and start downloading songs directly from Itunes last night. There was a song (The Blue wrath by I monster) that my friends and I, even with our extensive collections, did not have
However, I encountered a small problem. The song on the CD version is actually two songs stuck together with about a 10 second pause in between them. The first part I like, the next...not so much
"No problem" I think to myself. " I already have a program that will recify this problem".
Not so fast. The program has no clue what type of file Itunes has saved the song in
Is there a way I could convert whatever Itunes saves a song as into an MP3 format? |

| unlikely. Itunes saves in a special format, which means that it can only be played on an Ipod or on their own piece of software, due to DRM. ( digital rights management). basically, you are barred from using it except in very limited circumstances. |

well, there is a way I could do it, but it destroys the quality
I could use the other program I have that records everything that runs through the soundcard. Ive done this a couple times, but for whatever reason it cuts off half way through while playing on the ipod, but not while playing on the laptop
damnit, I actually paid for this one, I should be able to do whatever I damn well please with it |

| maybe, but they are trying to stop piracy. anyway, the only way IS the program, and that is technicaly breaking the law. persoanlly,i'd just abide by the restrictions, if I was you. |

| Actually you didnt buy the song itself, only the license to listen to it. |

try this:
get the file somewhere where you can find it. Then download the trial version of this:
http://www.fleximusic.com/
(I think. I'm on a different computer then when I found it and i havent updated all my links yet :( )
and mess around with it. I used it to cut parts off of a copy of the theme song to Firefly a while back and it worked wonders.

| You could download dbpoweramp (great music converter) and get a plugin for the .m4a or .acc extension, I don't remember what iTunes uses. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ and http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm . I believe that keeps the DRM in tact though. Another easy way is to burn that track on a rewritable cd in iTunes and then rip it to a high quality (maybe 192 bitrate). This gets rid of the DRM on the file too. Of course there is a loss in quality, but not a noticeable one. |
