I know we have one for X, but this is a more general one. With the new realse of FF XII comming soon, and the XIII for the PS3 next year, I had decided to try and get as many FF games as I could, right now all I have is FF VII and VIII, while I had IX and X I regretabley sold them.

I was wondering if anyone has played all the FF games, and which you like the best.

I have not, but if you can get the old PS game Final Fantasy Tactics, it's fantastic. It has unique levelling and combat systems.

The levelling system is basically a prestige class system, but with a crazy leveling tree. Each character starts as a Page, and once they get level 2 (I think) they unlock the basic caster and combat classes. A certain level in either of those classes opens up several more classes, and so on and so on. About a dozen or more classes, some of them requiring quite high levels in multiple classes to unlock. Each class also has multiple skills in about 5 categories. These skills need to be unlocked with the experience points you can earn (although iirc there's seperate experience for leveling and for unlocking skills), and then for each character you set one or two skills from each category before going into a fight. There's one or two of the categories where you can use skills from any class, too, allowing for lots of different skills combinatoins.

The combat system words like old-school PC TSR games, laid out on a terrain grid with your party on one side and the enemy on another. Each character then has a certain number of movement points and a range for their attacks. Hence the name tactics, because party deployment and movement actually play a role.

Other than that, I've played FF1, 2, 3, 7, and X. The earlier ones were so damn long ago I can't remember them. X was fun, but I'm sure you've played that.

I only played half of it sadly before I stupidly sold it, couldn't get past one spot, got pissed about it, so sold it. FF IX wasn't mine so I had to give it back before I finished it.
