Boy, get me flic with a hottie chick in tight outfits doing their kungfu best to kill the bad guys and I'm buying the popcorn! 8)
Seems I've seen an interesting trio recently and all are flying off the video store shelves.
I saw Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux last week and loved her wail away in that white unitard. Excellent special effects, but it had the least of the three movies. Plot and story were generic at best however. It was fun, though, if special effects and tight clothes are your kind of fun.
Last night I saw Kate Beckinsale in Underworld Revolution. The special effects and action were definitely a lot better in this one. But the movie needs a word of caution. If you missed the first Underworld movie or are a little hazy then you spend a good part of the movie trying to catch up with the storyline when you could be enjoying the action. My advice is to rent both movies at the same time and make an evening out of it. There is certainly the best storyline and acting in this movie than the other two I'm reviewing here. And seeing dear Kate kicking butt in a black latex catsuit makes me want a new law passed that all hotties should be forced to wear shiny skintight bodysuits out in public! :wink:
Marry me, Kate! Sharp teeth and all! :P
Last up is a movie that actually hasn't been released to video just yet. It's due on the 30th. It's Ultra Violet starring Milla Jovovich of Resident Evil fame. I saw this movie in the theaters and it left pretty quick. Frankly, the acting and story are pretty bad. But you should see it anyway. Besides wicked fight scenes and Milla in a color changing bodysuit that will raise your blood pressure, this movie is simply stunning. The Matrix movie family ain't got nothing on this flick. Almost the entire movie is computer generated and blows anything I've seen of the CG genre far away. Ogle at Milla a bit, but see the future of action movies in this one. Watch it on the biggest screen you can and sit close. This is what I hope to live long enough to see in personal virtual reality immersion technology. I want to see a video game like this plugged directly into my head. This movie is nerd paradise.
All in all, these movies aren't socially important. But they are all great fun and would make any teenage boy blush with unbridled lust. All have excellent special effects and cutting edge fight scenes.
True popcorn movies, every one of them. |

True, but she still can't hold a candle to Kate in that black vinyl catsuit.
Btw, Ultra Violet has been out on DVD for about a week.
You could rent these three movies and the first Underworld and make a glorious weekend out of it. :wink: |
