After Rummie's mishandling of the recent PR event... is it time for Sir Donald to exit?
Rummie was caught in a very flagrant lie... that does not want to go away.
He would make a very good scape-goat for the White House. It could give them a new "beginning" with the Iraq War. |

He has no doubt made a few serious mistakes.
But he's the only Defense Secretary since I can't remember who has wrestled control away from the generals.
We need a fair amount of base closings and new technology for the foot soldier.
So far he's been good about getting those things rolling.
I don't see him as a great asset in this war as much as for laying the groudwork for future ones.
Too many generals and defense secretaries of the past have been horribly guilty of planning for the "prior war".
I just equate him to foul tasting medicine that one needs. |

Easy to understand, JR, but never do that with an elected official.
He's a good man, but he sits in a hot seat.
And as a citizen, you have the right for him to deliver.
The Sectretary of Defense is not a soldier.
He doesn't deserve the same respect as a lance corporal walking a path his superiors told him to march.
I support this administration........conditionaly.
Why?
Because they are either elected or appointed by those I helped elect.
And they must be scrutinized
Put your blind faith in John Q. Corporal as Americans seem to always deliver in spite of the odds.
But never put those politicos on a pedestal.
Donald Rumsfeld has an appointment with destiny.
He is in charge of a war.
History will judge him harshly now.
And fairly after 100 years.
He answered the call by his president to ride herd and be responsible for a war as large as the Cold War.
Ask any old 'Nam vet if McNamara was merely a soldier.
No.
He was responsible.
In all forms that word means.
And so is Rumsfeld.
He deserves the scrutiny.
It's his job to take it.
He was asked to take destiny and the reality of the current times and put a sharp end to it.
Sure, I like him too, personally. But, Imo, he is the one "holding the bag".
It's not his job to be let off the hook for failure.
If I had his job then I would hope you would judge me the same way.
Don't take the handoff if you don't believe you can get it into the endzone. |

I'll admit I like Rummy. His charm is inescapable. However it belies the quality of his job performance and the nefarious practices of this administration.
These eight years of Bush will go down in history, and not just for Bush's bad governance, but for congress's refusal to hold the administration accountable.
With Rummy and Iraq, the president and congress do nothing. With cum on a blue dress, let's begin impeachment hearings after spending $40 million. Yes, we American's have our priorities straight  |

I guess Rummie's "charm" escapes me.
He comes across as an arrogant, everyone-is-more-stupid-than-me type of guy... to me.
I would love to wipe the smirk off of his face... with a 2 X 4  |

| It will not surprise any of you for me to say I want the whole administration gone. |

It probably would have escaped me already if I actually watched and/or read the news. I have heard peripherally some of what has gone down since 9/11, and have recently seen some snippets on The Daily Show, but otherwise, my views of him come from early in Bush's first term, prior to our invasion of Iraq.

Is it not amazing that Jon Stewart and the Daily Show have more impact than most "real" news programs 8)
I hope Jon decides to run for a national political office... someday :D |

He's the only one out there who tells us the real news, and easily, by us passively watching and alas being entertained. I take the news too seriously to read it in it's raw form. I already have enough problems with anxiety without really knowing what's going on in the world.
I loved his debut on that debate type cable news show. Was it Crossfire? He challenged both of the hosts for their contribution to the decline of the availability of a quality news product and chided them for actually believing what they do could be considered a fair and informative debate.
I'll love him always for that one moment of clarity in TV news. |

| We only caught that show by accident, and it was the best real TV I've ever seen. |

| I saw it on the net and I laughed, but the sad thing is that it took a comedian to point out something this obvious. |
