The internet has given rise to a new form of expression... clip-art.

These sites have some interesting stuff that fits the theme of Castledoom:

http://members.easyspace.com/Brig/mca/clips.html

http://historymedren.about.com/library/weekly/aa061898.htm

http://web.raex.com/~obsidian/heralgif.html

http://www.ou.edu/class/FRINFO/GTA/EGO/Pages/blasonDivisions.html

The last one may be useful for member avatars.

I'll definitely have the staff look this over.

From the 3rd link, I like the one for Aquitaine, but would need the lion to be black.

Joe, you might consider using the "shields" in place of ribbons. it would be more in keeping with your theme.

Interesting idea.

But ribbons do lend themselves to groupings and we would have to make every new ribbon from scratch. I'm going to have to let my artists hold the whip hand on that decision, obviously.

I have no problem making new ribbons... whatever their shape... especially now that I can draw them large and scale them down without losing too much detail. I dont know if you remember the idea I had for necklace-awards a couple boards back. That would have taken even more work.

When it comes to the artwork... Brf always figures it out

I bet he could even turn the old ribbons... into shields.

Joe is right tho'... ribbons do take up a lot less space.

But shields might come in handy for something else.

Brf's new rank avatars come to mind.

A lot of the 500+ post ranks will be for various knight ranks.

Using increasingly ornate shields would be a great idea for those ranks.

I'm really liking all these new ideas for the site.

I may not do exactly as the submitters had planned, but I'm trying to incorporate the ideas somewhere.

You guys should see some of the artwork my nephew is drawing for the site.

He's got a superb logo already done for the main web portal and is working on a castle for that same page as well. I'm happy that the portal page will soon be a bit more than a boring link page to the forum index.

I'm an old fuddy-duddy... I like avatars to match the theme of the forum. I'm not telling anyone what to use, but, if you would like an avatar that has a medieval or fantasy "attitude"... use one of these temporarily.

Once Joe and Brf have figured out their avatar plan... we will go from there. If the Admin wishes to co-opt any of these images... go right ahead.

All images have been "verified" as being available on, at least, two free avatar sites.

It is easy to copy the image to your Desktop and then upload to your profile. If you do use one... let me know and I will remove it from my files. Thumbs-up on the avatar upload feature :D

I like looking for specific avatars on the internet... it is like a hunt. I have my prey and seek it out
