I got it yesterday.
Best. Game. Ever.
If you are any kind of gamer you must play this game. Its been out for awhile so older system should run it and it's probably cheap too.
Go now. |

| small thing i have experianced crashes while playing this game, it is very resorce intensive, so save often, and tone down the graphics a little, i have a pretty high-end PC. |

| I actually prefer open-ended games. I hate it when they force a scenario on me and when the game is going well, it ends. |

| well, you might like pirates, but watch your pirate's age. if you divide the pl;under after age 42, it's game over. |

| I got the game a bit ago, which is why I've been quiet and I love it. It fully captures the flavor of the 1987 original, updates it to today's expectations, but doesn't drown out the replayability of the game with over-complication. I give this game an A+ rating! |

It's quite fun, but I have serious issues with it too.
I don't dance. I don't dance in RL. I don't watch it on tv. I don't want to dance in my pc games.
This game makes it almost a requirement to get to the top of the heap.
This age thing sucks. To keep your crew happy, you have to spend a lot of time pirating. That's fine, but you also have story objectives to fulfill and they require tons of sailing time chasing down these antagonists. So you end up delaying these story objectives while trying to keep your crew happy plundering. Then you end up old and can't finish the storyline.
What really pisses me off is the antagonists hide in ports and you can't nab them until they sail off. So while you wait around, your men get grumpy. To bide the time, you go after a few pirate targets. Then you notice your antagonist has scooted away across the map. If there was a way to force them out of port then the game would be a LOT better.
You simply have too much to do in this game to finish it all in your lifespan. |

| The dancing is a bit annoying since it breaks the theme of the game, but I can see the point of it. I wish you could simply bypass it though with an option, even if it meant your romance score was lower than it could be. |

| I'd be willing to simply take the penalty for not dancing, but this aging thing is what really keeps you from enjoying the entire storyline. |

| actually, simple way of dealing with it: plunder as much as you can, as quickly as you can, and dance with theberautiful and attractive daughters, so you gen info asap, so you can smash montalban early i your carreer,so you can plundder toyour heart's content later on. |

I don't mind dancing, especially when it involves bouncing cars while cruising down the westside (GTA San Andreas <- biggest game you'll find outside the rpg world).
As for Pirates, I might snatch it out of the budget stand, what can you do in it?
Except being a pirate and all.
Seabattles?
Close combat fencing?
Pillaging cities while trying to bombard their walls?

Ok, after buying the tap shoes, I muddled my way through dancing enough to get the attractive ladies hints that I needed to max this game out.
Score was 125.
Duke for all four countries.
Killed all 9 pirates.
Got all 9 pirate treasures.
Found all 4 ancient cities.
Rescued all 4 relatives.
Married a real hottie from Jamaica.
Had some rediculous number of acreage and tons of cash.
I retired a Governor with my hot wife and filed claim for every square inch of Jamaica. 8)
Ok, time for a new game. :? |

| it is. just make sure you are careful about those crashes. I now know what the issue is, it's RAM unfortunately. |

| exactly. it's a RAM issue, the programs I have loaded at startup and don't close are stopping it from running properly. |
