This is my Halo 2 review. I played it a while back at a lock-in, and I have to say.
Keep in mind before you read this, that I am not a huge FPS player, I'm more of a RTS gamer, if any gamer at all.
It's awesome, but doesn't live up too the hype.
Gameplay.
No this ain't just eye candy, the gameplay is awesome. I didn't get a chance to play the campaign, but Multiplayer is awesome. It's just as good as the first. In fact, it's almost exactly like the first, except for some new weapons, and the acclaimed Double wield.
Double wield was one of the features that was really pushed in this game. I say it's over rated, 'cause you can't use Grenades.
One fun feature is the ability too throw people out of their vehical, and take it over.
The best part about game play is the reactions from the other players. "Who the **** sniped me?" or one that was directed at me alot; "CRAP! CooJoe's getting in the ghost, kill him!" Of course they couldn't before I ran them over. And there's my personal favorite "****"
Graphics
Graphics are awesome, 'nough said.
Interface
The interface is pretty simple to follow, yet it lets you do alot of cool crap.
Bugginess
I didn't notice any real bugs in the game.
In conlusion, while it was an awesome FPS I'll have to give it 7 thumbs down, due to this AIM convo that occured like 5 minutes ago.
Professa302: C'MON JOE

Professa302: nope
Professa302: just jfk reloaded
coojoehossey: That's hillarious
coojoehossey: I could swear I did it
Professa302: and that sims 2 game
Professa302: you posted bout it somewhere else, then they told you to talk bout it in the new games section
Professa302: are you gonna put it on there
There's my half-ass review, that's in several weeks late
Now what was this thread about? |

I did get the game at 12:01 A.M. that night, but I did not stand in line for 7 hours. Instead, I was smart and went to Walmart, which is opened 24 hours a day. I showed up and there was no line at all.
I don't see how you guys can not like this game. It is awsome. I do think the first one is better than the second.
The Halo 1's levels were sweet and a few of the weapons.
The possatives bout Halo 2 is the double guns, taking over enimy vehicles, the vehicle selection, and the options on multiplayer mode.
I can not forget to mention Xbox LIVE play. Xbox live is one of the greatest things to come for xbox. It is awsome to play other people around the world with different skill, rather than just playin the same friends on the xbox party nights. |

My two cents:
I think it is better than Halo 1, but only slightly so, two weapons is only slightly better than one and grenades, which in neutralized by the interface which seems to be slightly harder than the old one.
Yes the weapons are cooler, the rocket-launcher is slower, but has a sweet motion-guidence system, the shotgun now comes with 30 rounds right off the bat, and the energy sword is now the antidote for the shotgun in close-range fighting.
Oh yes and binoculars, for those of us who never used a scope for anything else, now we can do it with any weapon we want!
Vehical damage is very cool, uniform customization is way better, boarding is cool, and the maps are a tasteful mixture of re-makes and new ones.
I'd give Halo 1 8/10 and Halo 2 9/10 |

Hopefully Halo 3 will be way better than both of them put together. But I seriously doubt that is possible.
I think for the ending battle, they need THOUSANDS of covanent and THOUSANDS of flood ( and what else might become our enimies in the third Halo) and THOUSANDS of marines all fight on one huge battle field. THat would be so awsome, but hard to put together on a video game. Atleast i think it would be. |

Yes it would be, A 64 bit processor would probably not be enough. |

is that what they got in the xbox?
Couldn't you add more memory to an xbox? It's just like a computer pretty much. Or is it illegal? I think by modifying your xbox to get more memory is just like buying an expansion pack for the N64. |

| Last night I played Halo 2 on xbox live. WOW........ the compatition is great. There are people who play this game likes its their job, or a school sport they play. Playing people from all over the world is so awsome. I dont know if its better than having at 16 player xbox party. Cus then you know everybody and can joke around with everybody. But both ways are awsome. |

I've heard its quite easy to throw in a new hard drive. Also heard of people swapping out the motherboard - haven't heard anything about more memory.
And i'd be fairly confident its an illegal practice |

Well I gave Halo 2 a go the other night, and I can't really say I felt overwhelmed by the experience.
It was reasonable fun running around shooting the aliens, but I don't really think it did anything really exciting, nor revolutionary. The graphics are of high quality, the presentation is slick (especially the cut scenes) and the gameplay is good 'standard' FPS stuff. If you've got a whole night to spend, then this game will definantely occupy your time.
Now for the disadvantages. Someone please turn on the lights! Why does the game world have to be so dark? If its meant to create atmosphere, then poor job Bungie - all it did was have me peering at the screen. I enjoy a good old nightime shootout as much as the next guy, using your wits and luck (and his tracers), to guess where the other guy is hiding, but peering at the darkness and searchlighting around till the target cursor turns red isn't my idea of a good time. Yes there is a flashlight, but its not very useful for lighting the place up - go play Doom 3 if you want to see a flashlight properly used.
Another disadvantage - recoil. Making the gun jump around is realistic, but I don't think it should do it at the expense of gameplay. Firing a long burst from a automatic rifle should obviousely cause you to no longer be pointed in the nearby vicinity of your target, but staring at the roof after a short burst, and then having to re-center your cursor is very tedious. Or deadly, in the middle of a shoot out. Maybe thats the way it is in space or perhaps I'll enjoy the PC port, with my mouse.
Overall, a fun game to waste the hours away with, provided you don't get overly frustrated with it, like I did. I only ended up playing the first level, as the Xbox was quickly restarted and loaded with Burnout 3. Maybe the rest of the game is different, but based off my impressions of what I played - 6/10. |
