I'm new to this online game, so new I'm greener than the most well kept lawn.
I have to ask, what do I have to do? I made my first decision about an issue. So what now? What do the forums have to do with the day-to-day playing of the game? Do I even have to pay attention to the forums? |

It depends on the detail you want.... You can ignore the forums if you want, unless you really want to role-play the UN resolutions thing.

| If you would like a flag, just say what design you would like... All of our flags start with this: |

| I made my flag so now I'm set. What does being a UN member mean in this game? |

| UN members can create and vote on resolutions which effect all of the UN members. Most of them are pretty silly, but I occasionally vote for or against one in order to maintain my Benevolent Dictatorship. All this stuff is in the UN link on the left. |

| How do I raise my nation's civil rights? They have excessive political freedom but their civil rights are below average. What do I do? What issues must I look for? |

| You want issues that give them more freedoms.... avoid anything that prevents the people from doing anything. You want to allow everything.... nudity, smoking, graffiti... avoid any laws that prevent the people from doing anything. |

| Yup. The site says they had some "data corruption", and they will have to reload from backup. Max Berry was at work at the time, so he had to wait until he got home to start fixing it..... |

| I've been a member of NationStates for some time now. I do get tired of it. I only go there once in a while. |

Earth:2025 is really about the game on the alliance server :)
If you're interested, Darkness and/or I can refer you to Elysium, a 180ish member alliance. They just want ~30 minutes a day of activity.... Alternatively, to get your feet wet you can play on teh primary server. But yes, you might get attacked. There are 'pacifist' strategies you can use, mainly carrying tons and tons of turrets, to try to avoid getting attacked. Also, if you are farming people for land, it's generally considered very rude to hit someone more than once, and they may dedicate the rest of the set to messing up your country if you do.
Frankly, the best way to learn to play is in an alliance, as they'll walk you through playing your country day-by-day. Tournament can be ok for learning too, as the games tend to be smaller and the sets are shorter, so you get more chances to start over. |
