I'm sure you've all heard of gmail and it's pros and cons at this point. Well as I got in early I now have 50 invites to give away if anyone is interested. Either leave your email in this thread or PM me with it and I'll fire one off to you promptly.
I'm not doing this to start a debate on the pros and cons, just as a way to get these invites out to anyone who may wish to try the service.

| I have no interest in a service that reads my Email in an effort to see what ads it should be sending me. |

scanned for keywords, not actually read. But that's not the point here and I already knew your feelings on it Brf :D
Anyway, it's pretty much a junk hopper/bbr.com catch all for me anyway as I keep my ISP email pretty much for just family and close friends. |

| gmail does not nessecarily read the email. it scans it for certain key words, and yes, it does send related ads, but it surprisingly does not have much of a privacy concern, the scanning is done by the srvers not a human. i trust it. and i have a few invites if anyone is interested, too. |

I have 3 gmail accounts, so I have 150 invites.
The ads aren't "sent" to you, they're just on the right margin of the page. Heck, even when I read emails at the site (checking a thread), I don't even notice the ads. The ads are just like the ads on Estioland, triggered by keywords. Sometimes it's amusing to see what the mindless server thinks is relevant. You can use any POP3 client to download the emails, you don't see any of the Google ads that way.
What's great, it doesn't send the stuff it thinks is spam to the POP3 client. Since there are some advertising newsletters I want, once a week I go to the web interface and check the spam boxes to be sure nothing desireable has gotten misplaced. I'm impressed that so far the newsletters I want haven't been tagged as spam, but the crap is, even without me using a white-list. |

That's why my nephew loves it.
It's like a freebee harddrive if you have high speed internet service.
I like it as my ultra private mailbox for my family to use. I never use it when asked my addy.
I may only get a couple notes a week in it, but those are the ones I don't want to weed through a bunch crap to find.
I only check my regular email every couple days as I have to wade through the spam. But I can look quickly several times a day at my gmail and pick up family news without wasting a bunch of time. |

| And with the Gmail file system utility, you can use it as a hard drive in My Computer - doubly cool 8) |

| mind, most useful is the effective spam blocking.i've only recieced one piece of spam thatwasn't caught. compare that to most others, and it is quite a good spam filter. |

One way to ensure you have no spam is to never enter the addy in at a website. Then the only thing you risk is one of your email buddies getting their pc turned into a zombie.
That's why I only post my earthlink addy.
Earthlink lets me prescreen all my mail at their servers before opening Outlook. I dump and report all spam on their webmail service. Then I open Outlook to permit the ones I wish to read enter my pc.
And then only give out my gmail addy to my family. If my Firefox window shows a gmail entry then I know family is knocking on the door. |
