(Found this board, so be prepared, I'll use it ;))
I like Asian movies. Different style, weird sense of humor and alltogether just a fresh look at cinema in a whole.
Personally I've enjoyed movies like Hero, HoFD, Battle Royal, 3 Iron & other movies and wasn't so concerned about Japanese horror remakes since I'm not really into those. But then I heard they are going to make a remake of Oldboy. Oldboy being my favorite "foreign" (as in not a Hollywood/western production of some sort) movie, which style & story stands out above 90% of those "Western" movies.
Why?
Remaking a movie from 1930-50 because of increased special effects and view points, why not. I won't be surprised if they remake Star Wars 4-6 in 10-15 years time.
But 2 years, that's a bit harsh. I've heard the argument that American public wants movies in English, but I can't believe the entire American public is that ignorant.
(Not that it's been such a hit here in Europe, but what happened to creativity?)
