Ok folks, here's where we yack about how we want this place set up.

It's too bad Jerry lost his site and all our notes.

But forge ahead we will.

Right now we only need to figure out the topic boards and main categories.

Later we will decide cool names for the boards and categories, import smilies, and find a better look than this goofy forum color. On the latter, I'll have to find a new skin online somewhere. Right now, the current look is all that's in the admin inventory.

Once this place gets spruced up, I'll get some help to really make a nice portal page.

The actual castledoom.com is that ugly "under construction" note.

We can't have that for too long for sure.

So let your creative juices flow and tell me what you want to see here.

There are some new skins on the PhpBB website... click on the word "phpbb" on the bottom of this webpage. None of them really jumped out at me. From what I understand, we should be able to just switch colors on an existing skin too.

I typed in a bunch of color numbers as khaki1 using the subsilver template..... I didnt fill in all the colors, so it is pretty ugly....

I also set the option that says everyone is stuck with our choice.... You can set that back, JJ, if you want to.

I want only 2 skins available. The basic subsilver and our choice.

The subsilver is butt ugly, but is easy to read if someone has graphics problems.

I see you are toying with the options as we speak.

I'm not a fan of the khaki1 for one reason.

The script is microscopic.

Take a gander at those options I picked and see if one grabs you more than the others.

We can always toy with the colors after we pick the style.

OK... We can turn off the Override, so they can switch to this Subsilver if they want to.... and then find a good skin for our default.

BTW, maybe it would be a good idea too put a forum link on the main page, untill a nice portal can be made.

We actually had a sizeable plan rolling at TPF, but that got lost.

I'm trying to rebuild it from memory.

I installed DustyGreen -- one of the templates on Juntajoe's list -- to see what it looked like..... It is kind of cool, but I find the buttons and stuff hard to read. Its Navigation panel is a "pulldown" menu on the left, which looks kinda high-tech. We should be able to change the colors, if you dont like black.

Yup. I took off that "You can upload your stuff" message and put in a link.

That dustygreen isnt so bad... but it is hard to read some of the labels and pictures.

Yep, I scrolled through the flavors and like the dusty green best.

And, yes, it needs to be lighter for sure.

Now are we able to insert the castle on the top?

If so then I say we dump the other flavors, set dusty green (modified) as the default, and only allow the subsilver as an alternate.

Well.......... as I understand it, we are not supposed to modify any of the themes other than subSilver.... But I suppose as long as we dont try to destribute it to any other website it should be ok

Yeah, we aren't trying to resell it. Just tweak it a bit to match the forum needs.

We need the castle logo and we don't need the color description.
