but its fun to discuss in the game thread ! you do a vote together with a theory of why..

i guess it would be harder for Muji to see if anyone who voted has given a reason for it in the other thread

(or is that not required anymore ? :P)

But then what about all the other poor first-dead? :)

The point of letting the first to die name the thread is to offset dying first. Which happens every game.

...

One thing I've thought of doing is starting the game during Day. So everybody gets to vote once at least.

But what's the logic behind villagers randomly deciding to suddenly start lynching people without aggravation?

Besides, day one votes don't really count anyways since everybody's clueless, and then on the first night, you'd have a killing victim, and a lynching victim... which of the two would make the bar?

The lynch victim because they died first? The wolf victim because they had no choice (theoretically, a lynch victim can always argue themselves out of the noose)? Both together, forcing two people to agree on a middleground neither is completely happy with?

Thus I figure it's best to leave things as they are.

It's not -required-, but it's "strongly encouraged". It's all in the rules. :P

One thing I always hated about TH TWG is that people always just voted, and that was it.

...

The best part of this game is discussion, and theories. If these are removed from the voting (each vote should be, ideally, coupled with a reason -why-... and the better the reason, the more people are likely to agree and vote with you), then a lot of the impact is lost.

...

Let me give you an example...

A lot of people hate being a villager, feeling it's a pathetic role, just waiting to die.

People rely too much on special powers.

Your greatest weapon in this game is -convincing- people to agree with and follow your point of view. And that's what makes the game so fun.

If people just vote and nothing more, there's no fun in that.

The fun is when someone votes and gives a reason, and the person gives counter arguments, and it keeps going back and forth, people constantly trying to convince others of something.

The core of TWG is argument. And as a player, that's your greatest power, regardless of your role.

How about starting the game with a fictive death ? No seering, guarding or whatsoever the first night either. This way you can start with a day, but still give people a reason to vote people away, since someone DID die, even though it was 'Little Suzie' :P

this way everyone still has a chance to vote atleast once in the game :P

I'm not knocking the proceedure, Muji. It makes perfect sense.

But being the first deader in the inaugural game is just one of those ugly fate things worthy of a bit of pity. The wolves were picking a member at random too. They only knew he was an available target and knew not if he had a role to play.

It's the proverbial meteor from the sky taking you out. It ain't worth building a ceiling over the country, but a bummer nonetheless.

Kind of reminds me of Jethro Tull's "the all time loser" in Locomotive Breath.

Understood and agreed. :)

Still, would be unfair to all the future first-dead if they got nothing...

Perhaps we can find something else we could do for Baron?

I think it is fine letting the first victim name the individual game's dead-thread... This thread could probably be moved to The Rack after this game is over too... It is good to have a Gab-thread.... disconnected with the official rules and disconnected with an individual game.

There's a great idea. The first dead club gets saved for a between game chat thread. Great way for Baron to earn his 100 ribbon too.

Everyone telling everyone to stop posting and Brf gets yet another post!

Hey Brf, we have 60 members now. If you can get them all to warn everyone to stop posting then you bag the ribbon!

PS: and I tossed you another post while I was at it.

And I know, I'm giving Brf another post... but that's just cuz I'm nice and wanna give him a fighting chance at getting it before me. ;)

After all, I'd be mighty surprised if the TWG game thread didn't reach 100. :)

Quite possibly before the end of the week!

Here's another for Brf ... he deserves a 100 ribbon!

(But I'm still hoping Hangman will be the first to 1000!)

Hangman very well might... :D

...

I don't get it, though, why doesn't Brf not have the 100 ribbon yet?

His "Sticky: Welcome Aboard" thread in the Great Hall is at 170...
