I dislike Obama, and fear for the country if he wins.

But I still don't see any real benefit to telling a bunch of lies to try and keep him from winning. The truth of his socialist-leaning goals and policies (something shared with the vast majority of the Democratic Party) is plenty of reason without creating tons of e-mails of lies, distortions and half-truths to attack him with.

The most recent e-mail being sent around? An attack on Snopes.com accusing it of being a very liberal site, saying it says that e-mail campaigns are lies that aren't, and that it won't back anything that goes against Obama. It suggests going to the site truthorfiction.com instead.

I do not understand this.

I did a little digging (not much), and I saw no indication that there is any truth to this ... which makes me think it is just more of the usual trash, which is so often spewed by both sides.

But the part I don't get? The push to replace snopes with truthor fiction. I went to both sites, and read what both had to say about many of the pieces on Obama, and they agreed almost every single time on which stories were lies, which stories were true, and which stories were a convoluted mix of both.

If both sites agree with each other, then why bother calling one site a liar, and the other site the depository of truth?!? Sheesh!

Maybe we deserve the destruction of our country.

Oh, and one thing I really got a kick out of, that I got in my e-mail recently, but never knew who wrote it ... the recent piece that has been going around about the history of reporters, versus the current reporters who are so political that they are lying like crazy to shift blame from the Democrats to the Republicans for the current economic crisis ...

Is written by Orson Scott Card, the well-known science fiction writer, who is a Democrat! How cool is that?!?

Well, enough for today about the e-mail circuits (circus?). Any comments from anyone else?

Lies and fabrications?

What would an American election be without them?

Frankly, you are responsible for what you believe.

But another point must also be made. Most lies, myths, and fabrications start around a kernel of truth. That kernel of truth might not be all that sensational, but it could be important.

Obama's birthplace distractions come from the fact he had really lousy parents, imo. The lack of respect those two had for their parental responsibilities to settle down and properly raise a child in an open and stable setting ended up becoming a burden for Obama down the line.

It has been in my lifetime that Obama, no matter his race, would have been scorned and avoided as political material simply because of his parents' activities. The term bastard meant something bigger back then.

Sure, times have changed. But to the better in that regard? The lack of stigma associated with single parenting has had many other societal consequences. We may have save the child some stigma, but now there are far more kids living in broken and single parent homes.

Ok, I'm starting to diverge from my point there, but while you should take these rumors with a grain of salt you shouldn't dismiss them either. There still may be something at the root worth examining. Likely not as sensational, but could still be damning nonetheless.

I have been doing a little more research in my quest to be honest about things I post, and I need to issue a correction. From all I have been reading of his non-fiction materials, in no way, shape or form is Orson Scott Card a Democrat.

Where I was first reading that he wrote the piece, it indicated he was. When I went to his own web site, to be sure I was seeing the accurate material he wrote, I find nothing what-so-ever to indicate he is a Democrat. Sorry, I repeated something without verifying.
