Bush may seem stupid, but he has been able to graduate from some very prestegious colleges. And no matter who your dad was, you don't become president twice, though many would argue the first time was very questianable.
I've always said though wether you love or hate Bush, you don't get to be where he is with even an Average intillegence.
Now you want someone easy to manipulate, no small feat, but I guess if someone is gonna spend billions to get someone in the want that way go ahead. |

Bush is an average President. He hasn't managed to destroy our country. It would take a great many Presidents of Carter-level failures to bring us down.

I don't know ... I am scared spitless that our next president is going to be the one that history looks back on and says "This was the beginning of the end for America."
Others probably think the exact opposite. |

Others probably think the exact opposite. There are those who think it was in 2000... |

I'll second 1992. The future looks brighter now that she-Clinton has given up her bid for President, but I'm still rather afraid.

I don't think it is really that fair to judge Taft that low... He certainly screwed things up less than either Carter or LBJ, with the added bonus of a post-presidential career perhaps even more impressive than that of Carter. It certainly had a smaller ratio of "crazy old coot talk" to "getting things done".
On a side note, we *did* get through LBJ well enough, even if it did take until Reagan to really start on it. We'll be back from mediocrity one of these days... |
