It's not just the Amish that have issues with utility rights of way.

Both I and my sister have problems that we fight with utility companies.

In my case the companies won't recognize they are slowly drifting off their right of way. The land next to my house borders an open flood drainage canal that lowly erodes the canal wider. But the poles keep getting reset every decade about 10 feet from the edge. Those poles have moved some 7 feet towards my house over time. Every one of the utility companies on the poles point to another company as the culprit or to the flood district agency. No one wants to deal with the problem. They want the poles up and me to quit complaining.

Thinking of buying myself a windmill and a cell phone so I can take a chainsaw to the poles.

In the meantime I amuse myself with calling a metal recycling company every time they restring the poles and consistently place that big spool of heavy wire in the back yard a couple days before they start. Made some fair change on those sales.

My sis was told after she bought the house that the cable company was going to dig up her yard for an underground cable line and have the control box in her yard, An eyesore there. She doesn't have cable, never had, and never will. Yet the cable companies are always having trouble and so they keep tearing down her fence and rolling in with a backhoe.

Of course they have learned that leaving the backhoe overnight there is a bad idea. They arrive the next day and it never starts back up for them, even though they cannot see any problems with it.

Strange about that......
