Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles has a 2 night premier event this Sunday and Monday on Fox.
While the 2nd two movies remain serious special effects titles, the original movie now seems pretty tame in the special effects department. Still great suspense in that one, but likely not hard to replicate the effects at a price viable for TV.
I'm thinking they are taking those "between" years back in the present day that were mostly suspense, action, and shoot'em ups as workable without elaborate effects to throw off the budget. Maybe a little gadgetry tossed in for Terminator-realism at most.
Action scenes can't be hard to find scripting for.
So I'm thinking if the writing and acting is good then they could have a decent run with this before it becomes stale. If they can bag 3+ seasons then they have a great DVD collection to add to the old Terminator line.
Maybe even grow the kid up in this series and have it segue into the final movie(s) about the future battles with a then known star who grasps the part to be played.
Cross your fingers and pass the popcorn! |

This is both on and off topic to a degree.
The other day I was looking up stuff on the terminator, and at the time of T2, John is suposed to be 10 years old. Does anyone else find that odd? I thought the kid acting as him had to have at least been 14-16, which made him seem like the oldest 10 year old I had ever seen.
Anyway, if you don't forget, all those T2 effects, with the liquid metal, get done in comericals nowadays, so the could easily still use T2 and T1 effects. |

It isn't that bad, actually.
But it is definitely geared for a deeper personal story line than simply going for action. |

Just watched the first episode of this tonight (TIVO is a wonderful thing!) and thought it was kind of cool!
Looks like it could be interesting. Will watch the second episode tomorrow! |

Yep-got caught up on Thursday (the Internet-for those of use who can't remember when stuff is on...), and I liked it. The Terminator series is still one of my favorites, and I'm wondering what direction they'll take it in.
However, continuity is a bit screwy in this one. They're taking T3 out of the picture entirely, and the villains seem to be a bit less fear-inspiring as the models from T2 and T3. Where have the liquid metal robots gone?
