I thought I would start a page for people to mention either there favorite bands or groups, or maybe just a cd of somebody you like.

Basicly anything realy music related for the most part modern, but if Mozart happens to be your favorite feel free to cover your favorite piece of his :D

If you wanna talk about concerts, or other events feel free too as well, basicly anything related to artists and music they make that you love is welcome.

I recently got the Smashing Pumpkins first new cd after there 7 year hiatus and like it a lot, more modern rock feel than most of thier other stuff, but still good. Course the thing is only two members of the Smashing Pumpkins are even on the new cd so  ? But it was still good.

Good question.

I guess U2 would be my favorite band given the fact I've enjoyed their music for more then a decade.

What my favorites are depend on my mood usually, I listen to pretty much everything (except extremes like hardcore/death metal/experimental jazz)

I don't have to tell Exar about my favorite band, but I suppose I will anyway. It's Tool.

And not only because the music is simply brilliant and Maynard is a genius, but even more so because I associate their music with a very important and intense period of my life, and a very special person I met during that time (who actually made me listen to Tool to start with). No day goes by without listening to Tool, and no day goes by without thinking of that particular person (he's not dead, btw, just special).

Other that, there's hundreds of names I could mention of bands and artists I like. Most of them are 'alternative', rock, punkrock, female rock, metal etc. I've been listening to a lot of emo since I got to know my current boyfriend, he loves that crap :P

Well, I don't have that many favourites, although I can name a couple.

Best band ever: Queen!
Coolest band ever: Metallica!
Other pretty cool band: Muse!

Those are probably my favourite three. Other than those three I enjoy the music of Elvis (Presley, not Costello, though I'm not familiar with the latter). And for Christmas music: Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I like the way the put the rock in classical music, though that religious stuff (and I'm being nice here) is not my cup of tea.

Oh... well those arent all my favorites... lol.. I didnt realise the list was that long..

If i had to cut it down to a top 3.. well let me think...

besides TOOL (who hold a lonely top-position), I think my favorite 3, ok let's make it 5 (I can't choose) are currently: Live, Muse, RadioHead, Dashboard Confessional, Scissor Sisters, Stone Sour.

Oh look at that.. I sneaked in a 6th. It's just too hard.. that why I usually don't even try this stuff and just stick with Tool (and A Perfect Circle)

Well it doesn't have to be just your favorite, if it just happens you heard a song and want to know it, or you saw a concert, bought a cd, whatever, though I figured everyone would start with there favorite's to begin with.

And yes Darky I knew Tool would come up, hell you could have just left them out and I would have still known, but not everyone else does.

I recently got the new 30 Seconds to Mars cd too. My list though of bands would be to long anyway.

Though one of my new favorite's has to be Mindless Self Indulgence.

Oh and I guess I could give a list of my favorite's. I don't have an outright favorite, but a list of maybe 20 bands that I listen to the most more than others on a weekly basis.

Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
Tool
Foo Fighters
KoRn
Disturbed
System of a Down
Theory of a Deadman
Nickelback
Mindless Self Indulgence
Greenday
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Stone Temple Pilots
Audioslave
Rage Against the Machine
Linkin Park
Stone Sour
Nine Inch Nails
Breaking Benjamin

On a weekly basis odds are at least one of each bands songs I will listen to, if not more. The thing is I own about 500 cd's, and that must equal roughly 300 or so bands, so I hear so much else too.

Bif Naked, garbage, alanis morisette, within temptation, delain, k's choise, avril lavigne etc.

But also the blood hound gang, the offspring, Valensia

and other pop/rock bands

That's the beauty of it all, never limit yourself. I get diffrent music every month and I like it almost always as much as the rest.

Im sorry :cheesy:

Anyway, Top five I would have to say:

1. Green Day
2. Queens of the Stone Age (very close second)
3. Muse
4. Weezer
5. Offspring

Then others like Reverend Horton Heat, Ash, The Exies, Franz Ferdinand, Blazing Haley, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Koffin Kats, Wolfmother, Bad Religion, The Fratellis, OK GO, The Living End, Dropkick Murphy's, Big Bad Bobby and the Shoehorns...

The list goes on

I got a bunch of new stuff latley, KoRn's newest cd, Papa Roach's, and Velvet Revolvers first and new cd...

It's all pretty good, some better than others... but for what genere they are making music for they all did decent efforts.

While I will state for the record that Freddie Mercury was likely the best singer in rock music history, I would not go so far as to give the band the title of the "best band".

They had some pretty sorry flop songs to go with their good ones.

Their drum and guitar work, while quite notable, doesn't hit the level of some of their elite peers either.

As for that list, Darkness, it's quite good, but has a glaring hole where Collective Soul should be. They have a half dozen good albums. I'm sure you can find something of theirs that you like.

Try these from Collective Soul:

Shine
Tremble For My Beloved
Heavy
Run
Generate
Simple
Untitled
The World I Know
Listen

You also don't have anything from The Cult.

Rain
She Sell Sanctuary

In both of those two, the band made longplay versions of each that were awesome. These were originally pressed as "singles" on the side of an entire vinyl album With the longplay version on one side, and a radio-play version plus and extra song on the other side. Be looking for a file far larger than your average 3-4 minute song or 3-4 meg file. Look for 8-10 minute versions or 10 meg files.
