I am testing some dynamic graphics stuff.....

I want to make sure it works for everyone before I devote too much time on it......

Check this page, which has a dynamic map with three countries drawn in: http://castledoom.com/forum/game1.php

Cool. I can make this map from a database using a dynamic PHP program.... something I learned while writing for the Rival alliance on the Earth2025 game.

I am ready to start thinking about rules and stuff

I have been screwing around with it.... The map is now draw entirely from what I put in the database..... If everyone can see the map -- with 12 countries colored grey -- I can start on my game

Coolie. I am a bit concerned about the time it takes to draw on the remote computer, but it is just annoying, not disabling. I will be experimenting with database and player interaction now and see how everything turns out.... Then I can start making some rules.

Ummm, is it bad that I see sections 1 and 2 as green and 11 and 5 as red, while the rest are gray?

I'd guess Brf's changed it since last night, because it was totally gray then, now I see 1 & 2 as Green and 5 & 11 as red too.

OK.... so far, it should let you join the game and choose your title. It will choose a random country for you to start in and let you name it and choose which color to use.

Well.... the User Interface is about done... About all ll I have to add is a message interface. We can start discussing rules...

The way envision it, each player will enter in where they want to move, and/or what they want to attack, and then everything happens at once. The defending forces for each attack would be those units defined as defense, or those attacking the attacking country. In order to make this work though.... each battle would have to be repeated until one side is eliminated....

OK.... I need some input from the ones who are planning on playing....

I was planning on having battles at the borders, kind of like the first Test Bananas game went, but allow attacking more than one country at once by splitting the force in the country you are attacking from.... So if you have 5 units in country-1 you can attack country-2 with 2 units and country-3 with two units and leave 1 unit behind to defend.

The problem is that if everything is happening at once and battles are NOT to-the-death... then what happens when your forces do not completely eliminate the attacked forces... especially if your country has been attacked at the same time you are attacking.
