Chill you two! Cripes, I only asked for corroboration and gave my standard lecture not to buy into opinion sites.
So let's go down the line here.......
The pdf with the court stamp seems legit enough. I hate summaries, but that's SOP with government agencies because government readers don't like to wade through the details.
I'm inclined to believe she was an agent under cover based on that pdf.
But then I never called her job into question, did I?
We are talking about who leaked the info, right?
Other than Novak, you are still at square one. Libby was not convicted of exposing her role. He was convicted of lying to prosecutors about events after the fact. In a regular criminal court it would have been tossed out under the legally recognized concept of fruit from the poisoned tree.
Libby will likely have his sentence commuted by Bush. He's a lame duck president who still owes favors to his core constituency. The power of pardon is untouchable in our Constitution. Even a totally left Supreme Court would support his use of that power. If Ford could pardon Nixon without legal retribution then Bush pardoning Libby won't even come close to that level. What could happen to Bush? It's his Constitutional right and he's not running for re-election.
Novak will never see a jury. Court maybe, but never a jury. At some point the journalism industry will rally around him if he goes to court. To convict him would send deep shockwaves through the industry and the Supreme Court appeal would be a landmark case. No matter which side of the political fence a journalist is on they are still a journalist. They protect their own.
Salon isn't a news site, Tish. It's an opinion site. They don't gather the news. They regurgitate it from some other source, add opinion fluff, and call it their own. Same goes for Fox, NYTimes, and all the others.
News is purchased or simply taken from actual news gatherers by these "distributors". In order to differentiate themselves and sell copy, they must add opinion they feel their reader base wants to see.
News wire services are different, Tish. They make their money selling to newspapers, broadcast companies, and other media outlets. No one will buy their stuff if it contains opinion. So they deliberately go over every report to remove any bias or opinion they find. They do this so their buyers can insert their own opinions without conflicting with prior opinion from the news gatherer.
Trust in greed, Tish. News wire services want to make a buck like everyone else. If opinion or bias would hurt their income then expect them to do everything they can to remove that potential profit loss.
Btw, you do realize that just about everyone recognizes that NYTimes is left of center? That you would label them as a tool of the Bush administration puts you on the extreme left end of the political scale.
Sorry, but to expect me buy into the far left end of politics is simply spinning your wheels and you know that already. To bash me for not accepting that view is just that. Bashing.
You don't see me bash you for being liberal with every post I make, do you?
But you do it to me. |
