Ok, this exercise requires you to think outside the traditional box.
Look over this listing of political parties... and comment on which one is the closest to your personal ideology.
There is a catch... you cannot choose one of the main-stream parties (Dems or Reps).
American Political Parties
My pick is the Veterans Party of America.
This quote is from their platform... they have the right kind of attitude
Quote: "If you want religious issues, go to your congregation and discuss it there ... Morals and morality come from your family not the govt. so if you want to tell other people how to live their lives, how to think, how to dress or what they can and cannot do to their bodies, then become a prison warden, or a political party in some middle eastern country and rule there," |

I agree with the Libertarian party on their economic stances, although I feel social issues really should be left to the states to decide...
I'll endorse the Libertarians for any federal offices, then. |

Doper parties.
Wiccan Sex parties.
Nazi Greens parties?!
Cripes, you'd think I could find something that perfectly fits.
Forget it. I'm just too outside anyone else's box. :?
Good thing I feel ok with being a loner, huh?
I'm closest to the Libertarians except that I advocate a big military and strong foriegn policy.
I believe both in the unfettered American Dream promised by the Founders and also the Manifest Destiny of US global domination via democracy and economics.
Good luck trying to find that party, eh? |

Maybe you could form the Tropican party.
As for me I'm stuck between the American Beer Drinkers party, and the Grassroots party. :) |

Start your own... the Root-Beer Party of America :P
The thing that amuses and amazes me, is how American political parties always want to "go it alone." I guess it is that American arrogance... that the foreigners are always accusing us of
It's like the concept of... coalitions, fronts, alliances don't exist  The One-Cause Parties in Europe have learning to band together and get a bigger piece of the pie. |

Multicapitalist Party is the closest to my ideals.
Quote: This quirky party supports "capitalism for all people equally" -- but it is hard to tell exactly what that means. The MP equally denounces capitalism ("The rich riding on the backs of the poor") and communism/socialism ("The weak riding on the backs of the strong"). Instead, the MP claims to be an economic ideology whereby "the government insures that every citizen will become a successful capitalist and land owner without excessive taxation or loss of privacy or freedom." Beyond the economic issues, the party believes all social issues (drugs, sex, abortion, criminal punishment, etc.) should be decided by a direct democratic vote of the nation in plebiscites -- with the states individually following the positions held by a majority of the voters in each state. |
