I don't know how I missed it.
I think it is good as it stands. We can always make adjustments if needed. |

Those are the ones with the "locked" icon out front arent they? There isnt any fancy-colored icon for them that says there were changes..... |

It's not done yet, Eddy.
I have really only worked on the Guild Court stuff.
I need more on the Guild.
I'm just wondering if the normal herd can see it.
Would one of you mumble something? |

Well, I can't post in there, because it is locked.
But I can go in and look at things.
Nobody could really call me normal, but I'm not a moderator or anything, so hopefully this means things are working as they should be. |

I would never insult you, Batch, by calling you normal.
I think most of us here have little regard for that word.
But you answered my question. Non-staff can see it.
So if someone objects and doesn't speak up then we need not have sympathy. |

Ok, I'm tentatively done with the writing.
The next step is making the user group and opening the board.
It will work like the Ladies board.
Only Guild members will see it on a daily basis.
It will become visible to all during Court events.
And while I will post a reminder about this, members should adhere to enough decorum and discretion to feel comfortable that their posts might become visible.
The primary reason to have it hidden regularly is so that when we discuss something that it doesn't panic junior members.
Now before Brf and I go pulling levers, I want everyone to scan it for omissions, flaws of logic, or just plain dumb stuff.
Concerning omissions, is there something else that needs to be posted? Rules, warnings, or anything else? Think of what you conceive the Guild to be in your own mind and decide if I'm missing some different kind of guidelines.
And don't just sit there quietly. Say something. :? |

I see you set up a "Guild Group".
The "Guild Hall" is setup with "Private" access, but you didnt give any group -- including the Guild Group -- permissions on it.
My guess is that only the Admins can see it....
You gave the three Mods individual permissions on it, so they can proly see it too. |

Do what button pushing you see fit.
Just leave the single "control group" member installed to see if the can see it. |

So all I did was miss that one step?
Or was I doing it wrong? |

Hey guys I got an email today telling me I had been initiated into the "Guild Group" (I feel like I should be paddled or something...) Well my first thought was this sounds like a ploy to get me posting again... but then I thought: "hmmm, they are crazy but not that crazy" :D anyway, thought I'd drop in and say "hi" I've been working pretty hard for change thus my absence. Anyway, maybe see you guys around, and thanks for letting me into the guild I feel that I've finally arrived.
*walks off singing: "Back in the high-life again!"

You were always "in" the Guild, JR. I just got around to getting the proper members installed. Guild membership was granted for those that I knew all the way back at the Cafe Tropico and followed along or were properly decorated at Los Soldatos for superior service.
Thus, you weren't added as a johnny-come-lately alone. All eligible members got in last night. Guild members have been vetted as anyone I feel that has forum staff skills and isn't already staff. That and a long enough track record we know about. Given your work for LS, the webring, and TPF, I'd say you've got the skill set and you've been reasonably even-tempered for the year plus I've known you.
Guild membership is important here because Guild members will have a strong say if they feel that something is amiss and should be recognized. Brf and I will only override guild concensus with a proper explanation as to the decision's detriment to the forum. Your group will also be the first group to choose from in an empaneled jury for disbehavior of a member. It's assumed that your group's forum staff skills and even tempernent will render a fair and impartial decision.
On a personal note, it would be nice to see you drop by and make some noise occasionally and look over the new crop of offerings. We are still adding stuff and what you see now is not all there will be. |
