You've probably seen this, but take a look:
www.webscription.net
and www.baen.com
Same publishers, giving out a bunch of FREE ebooks, and their ones for purchasing seem well-worth it to me at $5 (then again, I'm a bit biased-they're some of my favorite authors of all time)

On a related note, has anyone found any sites that sell cheaper books?

not really, but if you use irc then you can connect to undernet server #books channel and search for any kind of books you can imagine... and yeah you need to enable dcc to be able to download them. Quality of e-books is not the highest at all times, but you can find good examples too, and some of those guys have really great libraries.

No ebooks for me. I like paper.

I'm with Elvie on this. I like to read in bed.

I've read ebooks, but somehow the experience just isn't the same. First of all, it isn't as restful because I have to be in front of the computer, the light is brighter meaning more eye strain, and the physical sensation of holding the book is lost. Plus a book doesn't need power and I can take it anywhere.

I have downloaded a few e-books to my cell-phone.

It is a lot easier, when leaving the house, than carrying a book.

The rest of the time... I read real books.
