Since Darkness did her tidying up, I can't post in the day thread, and this thread is close enough to the issue.
I got my "prize"... ~the kitty models her lamb coat~
Is there a way to make the "prizes" expire just before the next game? I'm thinking that for the, ooh, week or so between games, those who get a prize can display it, then it expires, so the next set of winners can have a bit of glory.
I like the sheep's clothing for wolf winners, perhaps a torch and pitchfork for when the villagers win? Lovers tarot cards if the lovers win?
And the booby prizes, too. ~the kitty looks pointedly at JJ's sig line~ |

Trade refused from Darkness. Other items deleted. My sig line will not be carrying a tarot card around. |

you go to your Items, then check the 'View' box in front of the items you want to show, and click on 'Set thread Items'
My question now is how to undo it.... cause i dont want this thing in my sig =/ |

You just uncheck them again and they wont show.
JJ, nobody would force you to display any items.... and you could always have sold it, if you didnt want it. |

Heck, I would have taken it (Darkness may I have one?). The Fool is accurate enough for me. What do you want? The Emporor? The Hierophant? The Hanged Man?
That gives me an idea: I'll have to make a Tarot themed game one of these days...

i did uncheck it, but its still there
The fool card was a joke that worked out completely wrong. I didnt mean to insult JJ, but if I did, he had the full right to reject the trade. I have offered him a TWG-ticket instead, but he has yet to accept it. |

This sig item display stuff will end soon.
But before you all go whining, I intend to make those items useful somehow in the game.
They will cost a whole lot more, but actually have some one-shot effect in the game. You may have to play several games just to earn more than just a ticket, but you might end up getting something that will save your butt in a game.
I certainly could have used a one use weapon at the end of this last fiasco. |

Suggested useful items:
Extra Daily Public Lynch Vote - 250 TWG Bucks
One Coroner Vision - 250 TWG Bucks
One Night Monster Protection - 500 TWG Bucks
One Seer Vision - 500 TWG Bucks
One Vigilante Kill - 1000 TWG Bucks
One Use Standby Death Protection - 1000 TWG Bucks
All items would be one use items.
Suggested General Rules:
Member may not own more than one of an item.
Items are tradeable and sellable.
Members must display desired items in sig in order to be used in a current game.
GM's are given 1000 TWG bucks to reward players if unlimited items can be used in a game.
No more than 3 games can run without items use in a game.
Suggested GM Variant Rules:
Limiting the number of items allowed in the game.
Loss of items when a player dies.
We also could use a proper name for the items.

I don't like it, myself. It forces the GMs to eventually put these things in the games, like them or not. Also, new players would be discouraged from playing as the older ones would have all these advantages. Also, you argue against random chance in the games. This strikes me as a monetarily unfair advantage, giving the chance to randomly screw over the game.
Sorry if that's convoluted, but I'm not really thinking well today.

I don't really like it either, as all those extra powers can severely unbalance a game. It's pretty hard already to find a good balance in your roles, as a GM, and when you have to take those extra items in account, that will only make it harder.
Besides, anyone with a 'Seer vision' item in their sig would be killed off immediately, just as it would cause more drama in game endings like it did it my last game. What if (for example) the Wolves have a clear advantage, and you want to put an end to the game, but someone has an 'extra kill item' in their sig? Are you going to sit and wait to see if theyre even gonna use it? Or do you end the game because the wolves have a majority? |

| Good points. It will really bring unbalance to the game. We need to mature the idea further to prevent that. |

Get rid of the idea?
Sure, no problem, if that's the concensus.
But you can't "mature" it any more than expensive one use items.
That's as limited as a concept can get. Unless you wish to raise cost of them. I can accept raising the costs if you wish.
In any case, I suppose I should point out in defense of the one use concept that I didn't recommend the GM's to use them in every game. Note my mention of three games earlier. That assumes we will have at least two "standard" games running in that period. The alternating theme games can avoid the items entirely and still have alternating standard games where we don't use them. You would be lucky to have the opportunity to use them once in a month. More likely every other month.
I am also open to related concepts or ideas if you can offer them intelligently.
But don't contemplate this group reluctance/refusal as a backdoor method to save the plain icons. We kill the useful icons idea then we kill the use of visible sig icons. Simple as that. The icons will only be around if they are useful and useable. We will not be having them hang around as mere ornamentation. Get comfortable with that concept as I'm NOT negotiating it. Don't go all quiet and stall on me either. We move the concept forward or I assume you don't want useful items and I deep six the sig fluff. They get used somehow or they go away as I'm not having that silly junk in your sigs. Want something in your sigs? Go find something profound to say or go earn a ribbon. |

Darkness has a point, if you have a particularly advantageous icon in your sig, you're likely to get offed. However, who says you HAVE to put your gizzy in your sig? I removed my pics, but I still have the sheep's clothing, the silver dagger, the garlic, the beer, and the wolfsbane.
Also: What's to keep a wolf from buying seer power? What if more than one person has a power? |
