Every now and then, things happen or we run into people that just bug the hoo-ha out of us. Maybe you have a pet peeve and you want to vent your spleen. This thread is for those rants that really don't require debate.

Creative insults will enhance the rant, but you need to explain what happened that was wrong.

I have a rant about subs/hoagies/grinders. Why can't they ever put enough toppings on them? They'll put a ton of lettuce which I don't like since it is bland and put one whopping slice of tomato on it and they'll wave the hoagie near a jar of mayo and if you are lucky, they might put a couple ragged bits of onion on it.

This is why I like Subway. I tell them to put extra everything on it, and go heavy on the pickles, mayo, black olives, and especially the tomatoes.

Oh, and we need some over the top violence. The next time I get a sub and there isn't enough mayo on it, I'm going to leap over the counter, grab the mayo, put some on my sub, and then take the rest and cover the employee with cholesterol filled goodness. They'll be a walking mass of goo with eyes after I am through. Oh, and maybe I'll throw a bunch of pickles at them and they'll stick. To add insult to injury I'll empty the tip jar as well.

This is to the drivers of light-colored vehicles, including light blue, light green, all shades and hues of white, gray, silver, and metallic lactose-intolerant-diarrhea brown. Folks, if the fog is thick enough that you can't see much beyond the hood of your car, do yourself a favor and turn on your headlights. No, it probably won't help you see farther, but it will help you to be seen.

From the drivers who "pulled out right in front of you" in the thick fog.

Ha. As long as we are stabbing at drivers.... I would like to take a swing at "wavers". These are the idiots who sit at a stopsign and wave the other cars through, rather than taking their own turn. I had a waver just yesterday morning who started waving me through before I even stopped. If he would have just taken his turn and gone, we would have both been through by the time I went.

It is even worse getting stuck behind a waver. A couple months ago, I was behind a waver who started waving through a whole line of cars..... I had to honk at her to make her go.

Every year at this time we get an oversaturation of Christmas songs and Adam Sandler's Hannukah Song, then, as soon as the holiday is over, we don't hear them for another 11 months. This is as it should be. However, there are songs like "Frosty the Snowman", "Jingle Bells", "Winter Wonderland" and "Let it Snow" which have nary a word about Christmas yet are also banished from the airwaves. Helloooo! Winter has only just begun! Think about it, they play surf songs in the land-locked states and songs like "In the Summertime" and "Summer in the City" can be heard any time of year. So, why can't the radio stations play Winter songs at least till March?

I don't care about that, I wish they'd take every single copy of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and put them on a rocket and launch them into the sun.

LOL, Eddy!

Yes, Nibby, I have wondered the same thing. Jinglle Bells (actual title One Horse Open Sleigh) is especially tied to Christmas for some reason. All of the songs you listed would be appropriate anytime snow is on the ground. Personally I start humming Winter Wonderland on the day of the first frost.

The Hannukah song is good for all year round. Sandler is awesome.

The jingle bells is ok, it's real good when the guy sitting behind you is playing it with his jaw.

My rant... mandatory testing for drivers over a certain age.

I think yearly testing at age 60 should be a national law.

Old-timers in Towne Cars fill be with dread.

When I get to where I cannot drive safely anymore... I want someone to stop me.

Well down here we'll stop you at 85 if your no good.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/renewingalicence/olderdrivers/index.html

There was lots of community debate about lowering that to 60 or 70, however I haven't heard anything about it since. And of course now everyone is now talking about further restrictions on provisional licences (especially after some recent incidents, including driving a WRX into a pole at 160km/h in a 50km/h zone :? ), so I guess we won't hear anything about older drivers for awhile.

You'll never see that happen in the US. The AARP has a conniption fit anytime someone is foolish enough to express that sentiment, and the legislators know where their bread is buttered. What I hate is the hypocrisy of the whole thing. If you are 16, it is a privilege, but if you are 80, it's a god-given right by jiminy!

I've already had the preparatory conversation with my mom.

She's still fine for the highways, but it's clear that she's becoming more timid there.

I read into that she's losing a little reaction time.

Not enough to be worried about yet. I figure another 5 years and then she'd better stick to the surface roads.

I told her I don't want a fight of this and to release her liberties a little at a time as the changes happen.

First will go highway driving, and later, crosstown driving.

The final step will be the loss of neighborhood driving.

Since I said it's not time for anything yet she's rather agreeable.

I just hope she stays of the same mind when the times come.

Listen to 50 shekel's Chanakuh jam for a good chanakuh song.

Jewish rap, the only rap worth listening.

Speaking of rap...

Rap, Ive seen what its done to many of my peers. They no longer speak english, they speak rap. They have been brainwashed into treating women like objects, like there are no rules. Suburban kids think theyre in the ghetto, those in the real ghetto want to stay there.

Note: Ill make this longer and better and publish to my website sometime later.

That's quite true.

But I still consider rap not to be music.

Music requires singing or the use of instruments by the band.

Today, their music is produced by synthesizers and studio musicians and dumped onto a tape that is played at performances.

And you could hardly argue that the rap itself is singing.

Rappers do not make actual music.

I'd prefer to label it as poetry accompanied by canned music.

Rap is carp!

Bring on the fish! It smells just as bad.

And yet ... it isn't that good rap can't be done ... its just that most of it is garbage, so it is hard to find the good stuff. The same can be said of heavy metal, speed metal, and probably to a lesser extent, all other music.

Yes, the times are few and far between, but with the right groups, I can enjoy rap, heavy metal, and even thrash!

(And then there are a few odd pieces from Oingo Boingo ... I have no idea what kind of music it is considered to be, but Only a Lad is still a wonderful song!)

There are a few songs that integrate what might be called rap, in small doses and the ydo it in a relativly tasteful manner, but I don't think there a is a single rap song that I like.
